    0.3 – a new Dutch reality

The tanning industry in The Netherlands has been subjected to the 0.3 emission limit since March 2008. The neighbouring country can be seen as a role model for the UK, where changes are soon to follow. In particular, it can be seen as an example of successful cooperation between the industry and the authorities. Salons want to offer the best tanning results to their customers, through affordable and practical solutions. They want to adapt the new norm into their business and still make money. Some Dutch salon owners have managed to do just that and are happy to prepare you for the future, by telling us how they have dealt with the change, and how their customers have done the same.

What do salons think so far?

    Multi-functionality

Tanning lotions are now more varied than ever and multi-functional lotions are more and more the fashion. There are moisturising, anti-ageing and other properties with a variety of blends, innovations and special formulations to
make any buyer dazzle. Lotions are now perspiration and odour-resisting, streakfree, to even out oily and dry areas of the skin, and to detoxify and clarify complexions. There are ultra luxurious ingredients such as champagne, caviar, wine and diamond powder. We give you an overview on what tanning lotions are available on the market.

We asked two experts from the Health and Beauty media group, Karin Maier and Angelika Meiss, about current trends in the cosmetics business. Natural cosmetics, anti-ageing and nanoingredients will be the factors that drive tomorrow’s sales.
